Today found both of my teams in action.

The Storm girls game was again coached mainly by my assistant coach. And yet again, the girls put more effort into listening to her instructions than they have ever put into mine.

After taking a 3-2 lead early in the game, we gave the lead back to the Fire and never regained it. We kept the game close the entire way but never got over the hump. Too many bad shots and turnovers. Our defense wasn't great because a lot of the offense for the fire came on second chance opportunities.

Madison missed the game for some reason. Abby, Morgan, Emily, Blossom and Kaleigh didn't do much in the game.

Whitney was most notable for somehow picking up three separate injuries during the course of the game. Gabby didn't have much in the way of stats today. She had a bunch of dead on layups that she missed and she was pretty upset about it.

Isabella had 5 rebounds and 3 points. Maddy K. hit her first basket of the season. Paige had a pretty good offensive game with 13 points. We drop to 3-6 on the season. We are tied with the Fire in record but they own the tiebreaker with point differential. Thus we are in 4th place. If things stay how they are, we'll play the Sun in the first round of the playoffs. We are off for February vacation the next week but then we are facing off against the Sun in our regular season finale.

The boys team, the Nets, played a solid all around game today against the Bucks. We actually led by 7 points at halftime. The same things that have been plaguing us all season still reared their heads but we were able to overcome those problems and come away with a 37-32 win. It's our second in a row and moves us to 3-6. We are currently in 4th place with a chance to move up to 3rd place in our regular season finale.

Brandon missed the game today. Bailey, Dylan and Matt really didn't contribute much to the game today. Ray had a solid day on defense and hit for 2 points. Joe had 2 points and 7 rebounds. He was lost a bit today but got his head into the game when it counted. Ashantay had 2 points. Marque added 2 points and 12 boards. Chris had probably his best game of the season with 8 points. He also dished out some big assists. Jamiell had his second straight efficient offensive game. He had 20 points and 14 boards. He was really feeling it today. We are off for the vacation week and play the Bucks again in our regular season finale.
