I agree. Quirks that would be best defined as near-fatal flaws in most people are merely character builders when they concern me. If I were second-hand smoke, even the most militant non-smoker would ask for the smoking section. My beauty is at once striking, and twice unbelieved. It's only after a third look that one can truly appreciate, in full, how dreadfully inaccurate ancient sculptors were when they worked marble into the shape of beings uglier than I, yet thought them "perfect". And why would they not? To believe in something so visibly striking, as I am, would be all that was needed to avoid the Dark Ages. Sadly, as is often the case, human imagination is limited in what it can conceive. Nature gives these small-minded creatures inspiration from time to time- the albino Rhinoceros, the formation of the Himalayas, a hurricane as seen from space, me- and I offer no apologies for my preternatural gifts. I make the androgynous of both sexes choose sides. In places where hope is on the verge of extinction, I present it and it flourishes. I am not the straw that stirs the drink; I'm the drink, glass, straw and bartender. When I break records, they magically heal themselves. If I were a pie, I would be filled with fruit found in only one place, at one time in history, taken away from mortals by the gods as their hunger for it could not be controlled. I am what the Beatles thought they were, what the constellations in the heavens spend their nights gazing upon, what inspires bees to make honey. And I like baseball.
